Tarmvila vid infektiös gastroenterit
Akut, infektiös gastroenterit är magsjuka orsakad av virus, bakterier eller protozoer. Tarmvila, där patienter med magsjukerelaterad diarré behandlas med fasta eller begränsad diet, används inom vården i syfte att minska avföringsmängd och skydda tarmens slemhinnor.

Sammanfattning SBU:s upplysningstjänst
Tarmvila som begrepp används i mycket begränsad omfattning i litteraturen om akut gastroenterit.
SBU:s upplysningstjänst har efter litteratursökning och kvalitetsgranskning av systematiska översikter inkluderat en systematisk översikt i svaret. Författarna till översikten har sammanställt forskning om effekter av tidigt respektive sent återinförande av normalkost (dvs. inte tarmvila respektive tarmvila) för små barn med gastroenterit och drog slutsatsen att det inte går att fastställa positiva effekter av ett senare återinförande (tarmvila). Författarnas slutsatser har inte analyserats utifrån svenska förhållanden.
SBU har inte tagit ställning i sakfrågan eftersom vi inte har bedömt risken för systematiska fel i primärstudier och inte heller har vägt samman resultaten eller bedömt graden av vetenskaplig tillförlitlighet. Här redovisar vi därför endast författarnas slutsatser från systematiska översikter som bedöms ha låg eller måttlig risk för systematiska fel.
